Tim Burton’s new movie Dark Shadows starring – surprise surprise – Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, and welcoming Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green to the fold, also has a super scary (actual scariness unconfirmed) cameo performance from sometime Dark Prince sometime golfer Alice Cooper.

Based on the cult TV series, Dark Shadows, the film tells the story of Barnabas Collins (Depp), a cursed mortal who is transformed into a vampire and buried alive, finally being freed a couple of centuries later in 1972. Society has changed somewhat, to say the least.

For his part, shock-rocker Alice Cooper will be playing himself – not a new concept for the icon who appeared as himself in Wayne’s World in the now-cult “We’re not worthy!” scene – and was said to be impressed with one particular sound stage used in the film.

“They should take that set and make it a haunted house next year,” Cooper apparently suggested, after a tour of the studio.
