Amy Shark has undoubtedly made her legions of followers extremely excited, revealing she’s making music with the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan.

Ask any musician, and they’ll likely tell you that their early days were spent staring at the posters on their wall, wishing they could meet their heroes and tell them just what kind of impact their music had during their formative years.

While many of us will never realise that dream, one Aussie musician has been doing just that, meeting all of her heroes and even getting the chance to work with them.

Back in 2017, it was revealed that former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge was a pretty big fan of Amy Shark, with the Aussie muso returning the compliment and revealing she was contemplating a collaboration with the rocker.

Before long, it was revealed that Amy Shark was indeed in the studio with a Blink-182 member, though it turned out to be the group’s iconic bassist, Mark Hoppus.

However, while punk fans the world over were steaming with jealousy, Amy Shark has now revealed she has not only met everyone’s favourite alt-rock hero, but is working on new music with him as well.

Taking to Instagram recently, Amy Shark shared a photo with none other than Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins.

“I’ve been obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins my whole life,” Shark began. “Tonight I got to tell Billy Corgan that my favourite Pumpkins record is Adore.”

While everyone was undoubtedly saying “hmm, maybe that’s where she got the title of ‘Adore’ from,” Amy Shark went on to reveal that a collaboration between the two was in the works.

Although we’re not sure whether this new music will feature an appearance from Billy Corgan’s recently-recovered Gish-era guitar, here’s hoping that Amy Shark can put the idea of another Aussie tour in Corgan’s mind.

In related news, Amy Shark is set to return home for a huge Aussie tour this May. Here’s hoping we might hear some more news of this Smashing Pumpkins collaboration in the meantime!
