It’s just been a fortnight since Download Festival announced its 2019 dates, but that hasn’t stopped folks from making fake lineup posters, with another one doing the rounds today.

Earlier this year, we received news that Download Festival was set to expand over to Sydney when it made its return in 2019, and fans were understandably excited. This news then became a reality a few weeks ago when the official dates for the 2019 festival were announced.

Of course, as with most festivals, this announcement resulted in the customary fake lineup poster coming out of the woodwork, featuring the likes of System Of A Down, Marilyn Manson, and Avenged Sevenfold on the bill. However, while that one was quickly discounted for a couple of reasons, another fake lineup poster has now turned up.

As The Music notes, another poster was recently found doing the rounds, with this new poster containing the likes of Slipknot, A Day To Remember, Rise Against, and Marilyn Manson (once again).

While this poster is indeed a little bit more believable due to the fact the correct naming convention of the festival has been used, organisers confirmed to The Music that it’s a big ol’ fake.

The last poster contained a couple of factors that led us to believe it was a hoax, including the fact that Hellyeah were on the bill despite the fact that their drummer Vinnie Paul recently passed away, and the fact that hashtag listed at the bottom of the poster only mentioned Melbourne instead of including Sydney as well.

While these factors have been fixed up this time around (as well as changing the date that tickets go on sale), it looks as though we’ll probably have to wait a little longer to see just who is on next year’s lineup.

However, one act was confirmed yesterday, with The Amity Affliction revealing their inclusion on next year’s festival while speaking to triple j.

“The only Australian shows we’re doing are for Download,” revealed Joel Birch while speaking of the band’s upcoming tour plans. “I probably shouldn’t have said that!”

“This is why I shouldn’t be allowed on radio.”

Incidentally, the inclusion of Marilyn Manson on both fake posters is a bit of an oddity, considering the musician’s previous statements about not wanting to perform at any Australian festivals.

In October of last year, Marilyn Manson discussed his plans to visit Australia again for the first time since 2015, but expressed his distaste for outdoor gigs.

“I’ve never really gotten the outdoor concert thing,” he explained to triple j’s Ben & Liam. “I remember I went to Lollapalooza, the very first one, and I took acid… There was a family that had a picnic blanket out and they were all covered in warts. Head to toe warts, as if they were cactus people with warts, and that was not good to watch when you’re on acid, it terrified me.”

“Strangely, maybe it was the acid that put me off, or maybe I was in the shade of the wart family, but it was not that hot out — even though it was in Florida — but any other festivals that are outdoors… they seem really sweaty.”

“It shows that the fans really endure the weather to get to see their favourite bands, so in that sense I appreciate it.”

No date has been revealed for when the official lineup is set to drop, but organisers did reveal a fortnight ago that their “corker” lineup is “imminent”, so it’s bound to be a matter of time.
