Frontman Win Butler announced the decision to play the album in full by telling the crowd “We’re not sentimental, but it’s just been 14 years since Funeral so we felt like playing it.” The band is currently on tour behind their 2017 album Everything Now. This surprise retrospective performance comes just days after Nine Inch Nails performed their Broken EP in full at their tour opener.
