Following the tragic death of ARCHITECTS’ songwriter and guitarist Tom Searle at 28 years old – the band’s record label, UNFD, has dedicated every cent they make from the band’s UNFD content being streamed or downloaded to go straight to the band for one month.
“This afternoon, someone pointed out to us that their last two albums had re-entered the iTunes Album Chart. Albums are streamed and downloaded a lot following a tragic event,” the label wrote on their official Facebook page.
“Well, we want to encourage that as much as possible. Tom wrote incredible music that affected us and everyone we know in positive ways. As such, for every album downloaded or streamed on services for the next month, UNFD won’t be taking any kind of cut from the revenue earned.”
“Every last cent we make will go straight to the band. We want to encourage everyone to experience the music Tom wrote, we hope that you all take as much from it as we, and hundreds of thousands of their fans around the world have.”
ARCHITECTS drummer and brother of Tom Searle, Dan, took to social media earlier this week to announce the passing of his brother – who had been battling with cancer for the final three years of his life.
The band has created a crowd funding page to raise money to Marlets Hospice – which took care of Searle during his battle.
Fans of the band have flocked to UNFD’s Facebook page to show support for the labels decision to give proceeds to the band in this time of tragedy.
ARCHITECTS will still be honouring their touring commitments for the release of their latest record All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us in Australia, Europe and the UK in the upcoming months.
The band will no longer be recording new material unless they believe Tom would truly be proud of it.
