British metalcore champions Architects are set to round out 2018 in a big way, announcing they’ve got a new album coming in November.
Just over a year ago, Architects released their single ‘Doomsday’. While the reception for that track was overwhelmingly positive, fans wondered if this meant a collection of new tunes could be on the way.
Well, following a couple of teasers on Instagram this week, the band have announced they’ve got a new album, and it’s due in just a few months.
Dubbed Holy Hell, it’s set to be the band’s first full-length release since the passing of founding guitarist Tom Searle back in 2016.
“In those first months after Tom’s death, I didn’t deal with it at all and I felt so unhappy and anxious,” explained Dom Searle, Architects’ drummer and Tom Searle’s brother. “I’d ignored it and just tried to cope. But I knew that at some point, I had to learn from it.”
“It’s at times like that you ask yourself, ‘What is left?’” noted vocalist Sam Carter. “As a group of friends, we had to find something.”
“Ultimately, there were two choices,” Dan continued. “Feel sorry for yourself and believe the world to be a horrible place and let it defeat you. Or let it inspire us to live the life that Tom would have wanted us to live. I was very worried about people taking away a despondent message from the album.”
“I felt a level of responsibility to provide a light at the end of the tunnel for people who are going through terrible experiences.”
“For me, broadly speaking Holy Hell is about pain: the way we process it, cope with it, and live with it,” he concludes. “There is value in pain. It’s where we learn, it’s where we grow.”
To make things that much better though, Architects have also dropped a brand new single, titled ‘Hereafter’. Just as heavy as ever, we can’t wait to hear more from the group when Holy Hell drops on November 9th.
In tour news, its been a few months since Architects hit up Aussie shores for the 2018 edition of UNIFY Gathering. While they’re pretty much booked up until February, that puts them in contention for Download Festival in March, right? Well, it looks like we’ll have to wait until next Wednesday to find out for sure.
