An Aussie music-themed Facebook meme page is looking for a new name, and it wants your help.

If you’re a tech-savvy fan of music (or a music-loving memelord), then there’s a good chance you follow a few Facebook pages dedicated to sharing highly esoteric memes related to your favourite songs and artists.

One of these pages – which has been going for a while now – is the Australian-themed “Triple j Memes For Tash Sultana Loving Teens“. Featuring countless memes based around triple j-related artists, albums, songs, and even the Hottest 100, it’s been a haven for Australia’s young music fans.

Check out a brief example of their irreverent comedy below.

Last week though, the page announced that after an amicable discussion with triple j, they were going to be changing their name.

“Triple j Memes For Tash Sultana Loving Teens has rebranded to Aus Music Memes,” an admin for the Facebook page wrote.

“In good spirit, we’ve been chatting with triple j, who are fans of what we’ve been posting. We discussed our future plans and how to avoid any confusion between ‘triple j’ and ‘single j’.”

While some posters were a tad disappointed by the news, another admin hit up the page today to reveal that as they looked towards the future, they were now in the process of looking for a new name for the group.

Opening up the post to new name suggestions, the admin explained that a shortlist of suggestions will be put together over the next couple of days, with the best names going to a public vote on Thursday.

So far, suggestions have been coming thick and fast, with some highlights being a name that includes all the lyrics to The Rubens’ ‘Hoops’, “Tom Tilley Sultana–sorry to cut you off there posting”, “Reformed Society of Independent Australian Music Enthusiats”, or the simple, Tame Impala-inspired “Trevor”.

If you’re keen on suggesting a new name for the popular page (which currently boasts almost 40,000 fans), feel free to head on over to the soon-to-be-renamed page to share your own ideas.

In the meantime, let’s revisit this year’s Hottest 100 countdown by listening to the winning tune…
