An up-and-coming Australian singer-songwriter has beat out the likes of The Lumineers and fellow Aussie Nicole Millar for the top spot on Spotify’s USA Viral Chart, also nabbing the silver on the Global Viral Chart.

Xavier Dunn, who hails from Sydney, released his debut EP, BIMYOU, earlier this month. The record is comprised of sweetly sung folk cover of pop songs, including a cover of Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’.

The cover of Iggy’s collab with Charli XCX has amassed more than 400,000 plays and follows on from the popularity of Dunn’s cover of A$AP Rocky’s ‘Fuckin’ Problems’, which has been spun 683,000 times on SoundCloud.

“Huge thanks to Spotify for giving the love to my covers now #1 on the US Spotify Viral Charts and #2 on the Global Viral Charts. Knee deep and sinking fast,” Dunn wrote, sharing the news with his Facebook followers.

“Everyone should be up early. Why? Cos being up at the crack of dawn is for cool kids. You don’t want to be anything less. Or anything less than #1 on the US Spotify Viral Charts. I will see you Nicole Millar at the top. Spotify magic.”

Dunn recently became the first to sign to 1825 Records, a joint venture between UNIFIED head honcho and Vance Joy’s manager Jaddan Comerford and 5 Seconds of Summer manager Matt Emsell, who also manages Matt Corby, meaning Dunn’s career is in very capable hands.
