Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates has revealed he hopes to remaster songs he made with the band’s late drummer back in the day.

Back in 2008, Avenged Sevenfold made their way down to Australia for their second tour of the country. As it turned out, this would be the final chance that Aussie audiences got to see founding drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan in action, with the rocker passing away at the end of the following year.

However, years earlier, The Rev had formed another band with fellow Avenged Sevenfold guitarist, Synyster Gates.

Dubbed Pinkly Smooth, the group formed two years after A7X, and didn’t receive anywhere near as much critical acclaim. Releasing just one six-track CD in 2002, the group folded shortly after, with The Rev and Synyster Gates going on to find fame with their other band.

In the years since, their one album has become rather hard to find, with a copy fetching north of $700 on Discogs at one point. However, Synyster Gates has now revealed his desire to revisit some of his earlier material.

As Loudwire reports, Gates was recently interviewed by Rock Beato, describing his time in Pinkly Smooth in a way that sounds completely intriguing. “It was just this crazy, clown-goblin metal, Danny Elfman-influenced stuff and it was so fun,” he explained.

“I can’t find the masters. I hear that there’s actually an ugly rumor that some have surfaced, and if I can find those then I’m going to remaster it and give it to you guys.”

Of course, such a move would make original copies of the record just for the hardcore fans, with a new remastered version clearly being preferred by casual fans in the digital age.

In related news, it’s not clear when the band will be making their return to Australia, with news surfacing in 2017 that the band were making plans to come back.

“They have been talking to Aus promoters and I’m sure we will see them on this tour,” explained former Soundwave organiser AJ Maddah. “I’d love for them to be supporting Metallica.”

The band’s latest albumThe Stage, was released back in 2016, so it’s safe to say that a new tour might be starting soon. Who knows, the next time Avenged Sevenfold visit Australia, there might be a re-released Pinkly Smooth album available for your listening pleasure.
