Kesha and Big Freedia reunite on the latest single from Freedia’s upcoming Louder EP. ‘Chasing Rainbows’ is the second track taken from the release, with Icona Pop featuring on its title track.

New Orleans bounce icon Big Freedia showed up on Kesha’s recent ‘Raising Hell’ single. Now Kesha has returned the favour, singing the chorus hook on ‘Chasing Rainbows’. Like most things from Big Freedia, it’s premium twerking music.

“This song is about chasing your dreams and living your loudest truth,” Freedia wrote on Instagram. “No matter what anyone says, love will always conquer hate.” They’ve also shared a colourful, celestial music video for the track.

Freedia’s become a favoured collaborator for the pop establishment over the past few years. She featured on Sia’s ‘Eye Of the Needle’ remix in 2015 and was sampled in Beyonce’s ‘Formation’ the following year. She then invited Lizzo to appear on ‘Karaoke’ from her 3rd Ward Bounce EP in 2018. Louder is due on March 13 and it’s Freedia’s first EP since 3rd Ward Bounce.

2020 is proving to be a big year for Kesha. The singer released her fourth studio album High Road at the end of January, which saw her rekindling the party spirit of her earlier records. The album was preceded by the Freedia-featuring ‘Raising Hell’ and the two performed the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in early January.

Kesha’s protracted legal tussle with Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald continues. She faced another setback this month when New York State Supreme Court Judge Jennifer G. Schecter ruled she’d “made a false statement to Lady Gaga about Gottwald and that was defamatory.”
