Four decades after they first burst onto the scene, Boom Crash Opera are celebrating their 40th birthday with a tour packed full of anthems, memories, and a brand new single to boot.

‘Hands Up In The Air – The Singles Tour 2025’ will take the beloved Aussie band across every state, kicking off in Queensland on October 3rd and wrapping up in Melbourne on December 13th. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 4th at 10am local time via boomcrashopera.com.

As the tour’s name suggests, it’s all about the hits: from their 1986 breakout “Great Wall”, a Top 10 smash, through to “Dancing in the Storm”, “City Flat”, “The Best Thing”, “Get Out of the House”, “Bettadaze” and the ever-rousing “Hands Up in the Air”.

They’ll also be showcasing a new song, “Latest Hustle”, a glam rock belter guitarist Pete Farnan described as “like ‘Onion Skin’, but with a contemporary twist.”

Boom Crash Opera have clocked up 13 Top 50 singles and five Top 50 albums since forming in Melbourne in 1985, their distinctive mix of indie-pop weirdness and big rock energy becoming a staple on Australian airwaves and at footy games alike. “We sounded like our name,” Pete Farnan noted.

The current lineup of Farnan, Dale Ryder, Peter “Maz” Maslen, and John Favaro have already had a big year, having opened for Roxette in March and completed a co-headline tour with fellow ’80s icons Models.

Now they’re stepping into the spotlight for a full headline run of their own, with Nick Barker joining most shows as special guest, with Models appearing on a few key dates.

If the feedback from recent gigs is anything to go by — “That wasn’t the best BCO gig I’ve ever seen. It’s the best gig I’ve ever seen,” said one punter — you’ll want to get your tickets early.
