2020 will usher in the year of the sulky Seth Cohen personality type renaissance. A renaissance that can only be soundtracked by one band, Bright Eyes.

The seminal indie-folk act announced their comeback earlier this year, much to the delight of me and all other tote bag-slinging soldiers out there. Now, the band has finally shared details of their first album since 2011’s The People’s Key.

On August 21st, Bright Eyes will unleash  Down in the Weeds Where the World Once Was via Dead Oceans. You can listen to the bands brand new single, ‘Mariana Trench, now.

Bright Eyes enlisted the help of Art Camp to direct a music video born out of quar. “The production of the video started at the beginning of quarantine and finished as people came back out of their homes and took to the streets together,” Art Camp shared in a statement.

“In 18 different bedrooms across the world, listening to Bright Eyes, keeping each other company, we got the chance to collaborate on a story about embracing and celebrating change. The animation is composed of 2,200 hand-illustrated ink paintings based on original 3D animation and archival footage. We hope it makes you excited to imagine that everything could be new.”
