This year saw Bright Eyes make their welcome return with their first new music since 2011 with single ‘Persona Non Grata’. Now, the band have shared another track, and they’ve enlisted the help of a few, esteemed friends.

‘Forced Convalence’ is the second taste we’ve received from the band’s forthcoming record. The track features Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass and Jon Theodore of Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age on drums and percussion. The song is backed by a full choir conducted by Jason McGee and made up of James Connor, Quishima Dixon, Natalie Ganther, Anthony Johnson, Edward Lawson, Jennifer Lee, Sharetta Morgan-Harmon, and Marquee Perkins. Check it out below.

Flea has previously sung the praises of Bright Eyes, back in June 2019 the musician tweeted, “Conor Oberst and Nate Walcott can write the fuck out of a song.”

Details about the forthcoming Bright Eyes record are sparse, though we can expect it to drop this year. The record marks the band’s first full-length offering since The People’s Key in 2011.

In the meantime Conor Oberst has been keeping busy with other projects. 2019 saw the musician collaborate with folk wunderkind Phoebe Bridgers on an excellent self-titled debut album Better Oblivion Community Center. Oberst has also released a slew of solo records, and a Desaparecidos record, Payola.
