Reports have emerged that Britney Spears has been admitted into a mental health facility, as TMZ reports. Reports claim that Spears checked herself in for a 30-day treatment. It has been suggested that this has been triggered by the continued health problems faced by Spears’ father, Jamie Spears.

Back in January, Spears was forced to postpone her scheduled Las Vegas residency. This decision came after Jamie’s colon “spontaneously ruptured,” which resulted in Jamie requiring emergency surgery and a 28-day hospital stay.

“It’s important to always put your family first and that’s the decision I had to make,” Spears shared at the time. “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”

An unnamed source told People “Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well.”

“They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”

We hope that both Britney and her father have an easy recovery.

Last month it was announced that there is a jukebox musical soundtracked by Britney Spears heading to Broadway. One More Time, is set to be produced by renowned theatre owner James L. Nederlander.

The play will centre around a book club made up of classic princesses. These princesses choose to ditch their copies of Grimms Fairy Tales in favour of the feminist manifesto, The Feminine Mystique. Read more about it now.
