Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s bassist Robert Been has been lucky to escape a spell picking up the soap in a German jail. The normally black leather clad rocker scrubbed up in a suit and was contrite as he faced a Munich court over an incident which occurred when the band was playing a gig in the city on May 5th this year. During the gig Been threw a plastic water bottle over his shoulder off stage, which hit a 46 year old fan in the eye, damaging his retina. Been was arrested after the gig and tuned up to face the music in court. Offering his profuse apologies to the judge, he offered to pay for all the victim’s recuperation costs, but that was not enough for the judge, who fined him €18,500 as wwell as slapping him with a three month suspended jail sentence.
