It’s been a few years since we last received a record from Bruce Springsteen, but it seems like that’s all about to change, with The Boss announcing his intentions to release a new solo album.
January will mark five years since Bruce Springsteen released his last album, 2014’s High Hopes. His 18th record, High Hopes hit the top of charts all over the world and served a fierce return to form for the rock and roll veteran.
In the time since the album’s release, we saw Springsteen embark on another huge tour, which included a well-received return to Australia early last year. However, it seems like we’ll be scoring more music from the music icon in the near future.
Speaking to The Times recently, The Boss noted that he was gearing up to get “back to my day job”, which will include the release of a new album.
“For lack of a better word, it’s a singer-songwriter album — more of a solo record,” he explained, before revealing plans for a UK tour in 2019.
At this stage though, it’s not clear whether this is the same album that Bruce Springsteen said was already completed during an interview in October of 2017.
“It’s connected to my solo records writing-wise , but it’s not like them at all,” he explained to Variety at the time. “Just different characters living their lives.”
“I’ve just been caught up in other projects. It’s kind of waiting for its moment. Good music doesn’t go away!”
While Springsteen is keen to get back to doing what he does best, he’s not exactly been lazy over the last year, with his Springsteen on Broadway special set to hit Netflix later this month, and a live soundtrack version set for release next week.
