Just because you’ve toured around the country supporting rock n roll royalty such as Queens Of The Stone Age, AC/DC, and the Foo Fighters, doesn’t mean you can’t be partial to bit of electronic music from time to time.

And when you mix that with some party poppers, a deck of cigarettes, some ‘safety water’, and a bunch of hyperactive boys with far too much energy cooped up in a recording studio – the results can be both hilarious and awesome.

Which is what happened to Melbourne-based rock n roll group Calling All Cars who on a recent trip to the recording studio to record a new song instead decided they’d rather cover LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Drunk Girls’.

‘Drunk Girls’ was one of the last tracks released by the influential New York City-based electronic group who decided to call it a day at the end of last year.

The boys were so pleased with their cover that they then decided to take it one step further and make a little music video to go along with the song which they are now sharing with the world.

“We thought ‘Lets do a little video for it’,” said the band. “Then we thought…’we don’t have any money’ So……We spent $15 on: 3 boxes of Matches, 2 packets of Party Poppers, 1 cigarette and 2 bottles of ‘safety’ water. This is how it turned out…We hope you enjoy it”

Calling All Cars kick off their national tour starting in Adelaide on Thursday, before travelling to every major regional centre and capital city, even Hobart. You can see the full tour dates and ticket details here.
