Cat Power (aka Atlanta, Georgian songwriter Chan Marshall) has been experiencing difficulties lately concerning her European tour duties, originally threatening to cancel after announcing bankruptcy and health concerns, before confirming that it would be going ahead “without stage presentation.”

Having already been announced for the Golden Plains Lucky Seven, Aunty Meredith and her team of festival gurus already alleviated concerns when they stated that: “Cat Power’s March Australian tour and Golden Plains performance will go ahead as planned, there’s absolutely no reason for concern.”

Today, we have the official dates of said March Australian tour for 2013, where Marshall will be bringing her new, almost all-female band for a series of dates around the nation, as well as her recently announced appearance at the Perth International Arts Festival.

The announcement arrives despite Cat Power’s ongoing struggles with Angioedema, a skin condition which can cause severe swelling around the throat and face. The expensive treatment for which, forced Marshall to take to twitter to confirm she’d be going ahead with her current touring commitments, but not without some changes, such as the loss of her current stage design which includes the enormous gorilla backdrop.

Despite the financial hardships and health struggles, Cat Power perseveres to continue touring her recently released ninth studio album Sun her first set of new material in six years.

The album was well-received by critics, including Tone Deaf’s reviewer who wrote: “… Sun is without a doubt the most assured and invigorated Cat Power has sounded yet.” Which means that her forthcoming Australian appearances are sure to be quite the performance.
