Have you ever wanted to live in the same place as one of hip-hop’s most revered names? Now’s your chance, with the childhood home of The Notorious B.I.G. going up for rent recently.

Back in 1994, The Notorious B.I.G. (otherwise known as Biggie Smalls or Christopher Wallace) released his landmark single ‘Juicy’. In the lyrics, the rapper sings the praises of his newfound lifestyle, speaking about how he no longer lives in public housing, while thinking back to the “one-room shack” he grew up in.

Now, said “shack” can be yours to rent, but it’s far nicer than these lyrics might ever suggest.

As The New York Post reports, the property in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill district is now available for house-hunters, though it’ll cost you a neat USD $4,000 per month.

Yes, gone are the days of it being a “one-room shack” with no heat, now it’s a three-bedroom apartment which sold for USD $825,000 back in 2013.

“It’s a beautiful home and a fantastic neighborhood, filled with little shops and great transportation,” explained Fabienne Lecole of real estate broker Compass. “The apartment is iconic … a historical gem.”

“It’s so calm and residential now,” Lecole added, referencing the street’s previous reputation as a hotbed of street crime. “It’s hard to imagine it’s the same street that he sang about with all the drugs and gunfire. It couldn’t be more different.”

Featuring three bedrooms, an additional office space, and a seperate dining room, the property boasts hardwood floors, high ceilings, and features bike storage, laundry, and is located only one block from the subway. The catch? No pets, so that famous cat called Biggie might need to look elsewhere to seek shelter.

In related news, the corner of Fulton Street and St. James Place in Clinton Hill was recently renamed Christopher Wallace Way in honour of the late rapper.

So if you’re looking for a property in an historic neighbourhood, previously owned by music royalty, and on a notable street, then you’d better make sure you’ve got the cash for this trendy New York apartment.
