CHVRCHES have come through with their first single (standalone) with just a few months left in 2019 – ‘Death Stranding’.
The single appears on the official soundtrack for Hideo Kojima’s new Playstation 4 video game, Death Stranding: Timefall. The soundtrack itself is pretty impressive, featuring music by the likes of Major Lazer and Khalid, The Neighbourhood and Bring Me The Horizon.
CHVRCHES – ‘Death Stranding’
The single remains in the wistful, hopeful sonic scope CHVRCHES are known for inhabiting, ‘Death Stranding’ drawing on themes from the game itself. The end result is bright and a strong single to curry more intrigue surrounding Kojima’s vision for the game which, according to the creator, is about ‘creating bridges between isolated cities and a fractured society.”
“We were really excited about the opportunity to work with Kojima because we have been fans of his work for a long time,” CHVRCHES have said.
“He has always been such a visionary in the gaming world and we were honoured to be involved in the project. The concept of Death Stranding is so unique and really felt to us like it was challenging people to care about the world they create – in the game and otherwise. We wrote this song specifically for Death Stranding, thinking of the themes of the game and what it is trying to say to people.”
The full Death Stranding: Timefall soundtrack is set to be released on November 7th.
