The Clive Palmer/Twisted Sister battle continues to rage on, with the controversial politician challenging frontman Dee Snider to a singing battle.

Over the last week, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider and the United Australia Party’s Clive Palmer have been embroiled in one of the strangest battles to date.

After it was revealed that Palmer had used a re-written version of Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for a recent television ad, frontman Dee Snider went into battle mode.

In addition to explaining that “Twisted Sister does not endorse Australian politician Clive Palmer”, and that they are “contacting our legal team to address this,’ Snider revealed that Palmer’s misuse of the song was done wilfully.

According to Snider, Palmer’s team had contacted Twisted Sister’s publishers in regards to licensing the track, only to record their own version without authorisation when informed they would have to pay fees for the track.

Soon, Clive Palmer insisted that Twisted Sister never even owned copyright to their song, having allegedly ripped it off from the centuries-old hymn, ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’.

“As Twisted Sister never remunerated the original arranger, we do not understand how they have ever had any claim to its copyright,” Palmer explained.

While Dee Snider simply explained that “Clive Palmer clearly does not understand copyright law; he thinks it’s the right to copy,” Palmer went on to suggest that Snider’s visa for his upcoming Aussie tour should be cancelled in light of this row.

“We are concerned about defamation and threats made by Dee Snider and as such believe the minister for Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton should reject his visa, given the current crackdown,’’ Palmer explained.

Now, it seems like he’s changed his tune somewhat, taking to Twitter to suggest something of an onstage sing-off.

Writing on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, Palmer explained that he “would love to join Dee Snider on stage for a sing-off of my ‘Australia’s Not Gonna Cop It’ and his version so fans can decide which one they like best. I’d be happy to be part of the tour when he visits Down Under.”

Of course, while the very notion of this happening is ridiculous at best, Dee Snider also chimed in, superbly rebuffing Palmer’s suggestion.

“First you want my visa pulled, now you want to join me on stage?” he asked. “I knew you were a closet fan…NO!”

While the copyright battle seems no closer to be over, Dee Snider’s upcoming Aussie tour is set to kick off at the end of the month. Here’s hoping we see a resolution soon, because we really don’t want to hear Clive Palmer sing.
