Port Fairy Folk Music Festival Sold Out

Tickets for this year’s Port Fairy Folk Music Festival, hosted from 7th to the 10th of March, have completely sold out. Following on from announcing the last of the 2014 lineup last month, bringing more than 40 local and international acts to the 38th edition of the coastal music event, the box office has been completely exhausted of passes.

A ticket exchange program for re-sellers has been set up (head here for details) while organisers note: “For those who missed out, don’t forget Port Fairy comes alive at festival time with free entertainment throughout the streets and programmed gigs at many a venue around town – plus sprawling markets, incredible food, family friendly activities and much more.” For lineup, timetable, and other info head to portfairyfolkfestival.com.

Holy Holy Sign To Wonderlick Entertainment

Holy Holy, the musical project of Brisbane singer-songwriter Timothy Carroll and Melbourne musician Oscar Dawson, have signed with Wonderlick Entertainment for the release of their debut EP. The first single from the Pacific EP, ‘House Of Cards’ (listen here) is officially released on 28th February when pre-orders for the EP also go live ahead of its 28th Mach release. Managed by Jess Beston of Tiny Monster, Holy Holy have toured with Emma Louise, The Trouble With Templeton, Snakadaktl and find themselves back on the road in April with Ballpark Music and Papa vs Pretty. New Book And Workshop On Australian Music Business Launched

An industry workshop is being hosted next month to commemorate the release of a new book focussed on the Australian music industry. Welcome To The Jungle – Navigating The Music Business In Australia is a new 680 page tome from Andrew Watt, an entertainment and media lawyer, journalist, presenter and educator from Melbourne, combining interview material and his own experience in the music business. To celebrate the launch of Welcome To The Jungle, Mr Watt will be hosting a workshop at the JMC Auditorium in Melbourne on Saturday 22nd March. The event is aimed at JMC students commencing Music Business Courses in 2014 but will cover a vast array of topics, from artist management to entertainment law and beyond.

Shock Records Signs New Empire

Shock Records have signed Sydney indie rock band New Empire for the release of their third studio album In A Breath, set for release on Friday 18th April. The Cronulla-born four-piece have drawn comparisons to The Killers and Snow Patrol following the release of their 2011 album Symmetry, earning attention from international media and local audiences, debuting in the Top 40 on the ARIA Chart. Having opened for the likes of Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Neon Trees, New Empire are playing a ream of live shows in the lead-up to the release of In A Breath. Further info at facebook.com/newempireband.
