By the end of every week there are a bunch of music-related stories, cool links, videos, and other internet ditties that are a little on the trashy side.

As a remedy to this, we’re happy to introduce you to our regular Trash Can column – our avenue for sharing the funny, the weird, and the downright tacky music stories of the week. Enjoy!

Iceland Wants Yoko

If there’s anything we know about Iceland, its that the people have a reputation for being a little kooky. See: Bjork. Well now, they’ve enlisted Yoko Ono to be a part of their kooky clan. As NME report when bestowed with the honour Ono said “John [Lennon] and I believed in Nutopia, which would make all of us citizens of the world. But inside the world, there is a land of our hearts that is shining with warmth, truth and beauty called Iceland. Each time I visit the land, I am reminded of what is essential and therefore most important in life. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being you.” If you want to know more about the country’s capital city and its connection to music, check out our music travel guide.

Musicians Read Mean Tweets About Themselves

The latest instalment of a regular segment on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in which celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, is musicians only due to Kanye West’s much publicised appearance on the show. In this hilarious montage, watch everyone form John Mayer, to Adam Levine read mean-as tweets about themselves.

Coolio Crashed A College Party, Made Kids Do ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ Sing-A-Long

Oh Coolio… It’s hard out there for an ageing one hit wonder (okay, two-hit wonder, Coolio’s appearance on The Nanny was amazing). It’s also safe to say 2013 hasn’t been the best year for the rapper having been sued by a woman for jumping on her back and bullriding her, as well as a separate count of domestic violence. Well, now the 50-year-old  rapper is about to be even more embarrassed as a video has come out of the night he crashed a college party and in what looks like the earlier hours of the morning coerced the kids into performing a ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ sing-a-long.  It’s just the saddest, greatest, thing.

Britney Spears May Have Caused A Breaking Bad Redux

So it turns of Britney is just like the rest of us and considers herself a big fan of Breaking Bad.  As NME reports, in a recent interview with Z100, Spears revealed “OMG I love the show. didn’t like it (the finale) at all. I didn’t think he should have died … Maybe they’ll do another episode where the ambulance comes and revives him.” Cranston, who plays the deceased character in question, took this to heart and tweeted Britney. “To @BrittneySpear5. Not happy with the Breaking Bad finale? Or just sad that Walt died? Glad you felt for him. RIP W.W. maybe I’m still here.” Spooky AND hopeful!
