Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has paid tribute to his idols, performing a number of covers at a recent show in the US.

While Corey Taylor might be best known for his word as the ferocious leader of Slipknot, the rocker often spends his time performing as a the frontman for Stone Sour, and an acclaimed solo artist.

On Sunday night, Corey Taylor and Friends hit up the Garden Amphitheatre in Garden Grove, California to deliver a set full of cover performances.

Kicking things off with a performance of The Damned’s ‘Love Song’, Corey Taylor quickly showed fans just where his influences lie, covering tracks from INXS, the Eagles, Billy Joel, David Bowie, Black Flag, Gin Blossoms, and even Boz Scaggs, truly delivering something for everyone.

However, don’t start holding out for a full album of these covers. Back in 2016, Corey Taylor told RockSverige that while he wouldn’t ever record a solo album unless he was ready to become “super greedy”.

“I’ve been getting questions about solo stuff forever,” Taylor explained. “But it’s a good problem to have. But, at the same time, I’m in two fantastic bands. Why would I ever?”

“Unless I wanted to get super greedy, why would I try to split off and do something else. I’m very fulfilled by the music that I get to make with both bands. Is there a solo album in me? Yes. But it’s not gonna be for a few more years.”

Of course, earlier this year, Corey Taylor expressed his desire to branch out a little bit, perhaps trying something more experimental, or performing jazz versions of his own songs.

“Probably something like [Slipknot’s] ‘Prosthetics’, I think would be really, really cool,” he explained. “And then [Stone Sour’s] ‘Bother’ — I’ve got a really cool jazzy version of ‘Bother’ that could be really cool.”

In related news, Corey Taylor and the rest of Slipknot set to visit Australia later this year, heading down under for a massive tour with Metallica. Check out all the details below!
