Slipknot’s Corey Taylor has been a man of the band for many years now, but after an interview with SiriusXM, he told host Eddie Trunk that he has been seriously considering diving into solo music, with an album planned to come out in the distant future of 2021.

Corey Taylor is no stranger to solo acts, playing a few solo shows over the years here and there titled ‘Corey Taylor and Friends’, but really, that’s not exactly solo. The man has only one solo song under his belt on Spotify called ‘X-M@$’, but I don’t really think that’s the kind of music fans have been wanting to see from the man when he goes solo.

The Slipknot and Stone Sour singer revealed the potential for a solo project. “I’m actually giving serious thought to doing a solo album and a solo run,” he told Trunk, clarifying the project isn’t an immediate focusing, stating, “Obviously, it’s not gonna happen for a while.”

“Honestly, it’s something that I didn’t even consider for a long time until people just kept beating me up about it, asking me when I was gonna do it,” offered the singer.

The persistence of his friends is what he says he needed, as he continued, “And the more they kept asking, the more I just kept thinking about it, the more I was just, like, ‘You know what? If I don’t do it now, I’m never gonna do it.'”

“So, yeah, probably 2021,” he forecasted. “I’m actually putting a band together. I’ve already told the guys in Stone Sour and Slipknot that I’m doing it, just out of respect. And, yeah, I’m gonna start working on a solo album.”

Careful not to divulge too much information, he told Trunk, “That’s all I’ll give you for now. But, yeah, that’s the plan as of right now.”

Slipknot has just released their highly successful album, We Are Not Your Kind, and are going on a 2020 tour with Behemoth.
