‘Over Everything’ is just the sort of title we’d expect from the combined slacker forces of Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile, and the first track from their upcoming collaborative album Lotta Sea Lice gives us exactly the warm drawl we would have expected from the pairing – not a bad thing by any stretch.

Gorgeously produced and dripping with honeyed guitars, the rambling back-and-forth is a bright, candid glimpse into a songwriting partnership that makes about as much sense as any trans-Pacific collab ever has – a duality captured perfectly in the stunning, scenic clip shot in the pair’s respective countries by the talented Danny Cohen.

It’s just the first glimpse inside a record that will also boast Mick Turner and Jim White of the Dirty Three, Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint, and yes, Mick Harvey of Bad Seeds fame, set to drop on October 13. The album will also see Kurt tackling a Courtney Barnett track with his cover of ‘Outta The Woodwork’, and vice versa, as Courtney delivers a stripped-back cover of ‘Peepin’ Tomboy’.

Meanwhile, Courtney’s next solo album is due in 2018, but she’s been keeping busy playing live with partner Jen Cloher, who just released a brilliant solo record of her own.

‘Over Everything’ premiered on Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio overnight, but you can grab the track here, and pre-order the album as well.
