The topic of an Oasis reunion has been brought up once again, with Creation Records’ Alan McGee stating that he thinks only something like a tragic event could bring the Gallagher brothers together again.

Ever since Oasis called it quits back in 2009, music fans the world over have been hoping for something of a reunion.

While this hasn’t happened yet, Noel Gallagher has gone on to form Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, while Liam Gallagher has gone on to perform with both Beady Eye and serve as a solo artist.

However, there has forever been talk of a reunion, with the brothers’ contentious relationship seeming to ebb and flow at times, with one appearing to soften just as the other seems to harden up.

Now, Alan McGee of Creation Records – who signed Oasis back in 1993 – has stated his belief that only a tragic event could bring the pair back together.

“They’re not going to get back together at any time soon, but the only thing that might happen is that circumstances might change in people’s lives,” McGee explained to Clint Boon’s Humans of XS Manchester podcast (via The Daily Star).

“I don’t want to say what I think that might be, but it could be anything, it could be bad news and then they’re thrown together and then suddenly it’s like: ‘I don’t hate.’ “But at the moment I can’t see it anytime soon.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Alan McGee explained that he believes that while “fate” will bring the Gallagher brothers together again, he’s unsure whether or not they would ever perform alongside each other.

“Through fate, they’ll be thrown together at some point, whether they’ll ever be in a band with each other again I don’t know, I can’t call that,” McGee explained. “I know there’s a lot of hurt feelings on both sides, with Noel anyway I know there is.”In related news, Liam Gallagher is scheduled to release his second solo album, Why Me? Why Not., in September.
