Attendees at Metallica’s recent California show happened to find themselves rubbing shoulders with rock royalty… literally, with both the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, and Ray Burton, the father of legendary Metallica member Cliff Burton, in attendance at the legendary metal band’s show.
As Consequence Of Sound reports, a number of fans managed to run into Grohl at Metallica’s recent show at the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, with the rocker becoming the subject of numerous selfies on the night. One fan in particular collected a number of pictures of Grohl from the gig, paying tribute to him on Twitter. “One of lots of reasons to love Dave Grohl: Dave Grohl standing in the crowd at a Metallica concert, just like an ordinary dude,” he Tweeted.

Even more impressive though, was the appearance of Ray Burton, father of the late legendary bassist of Metallica, Cliff Burton. As Consequence Of Sound also reports, the 92-year-old has been keeping his son’s legacy alive for years now. As well as attending Metallica gigs, giving interviews, and filling in for Cliff when Metallica were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, he’s also received recognition donating his son’s royalties into music scholarships.
Cliff Burton tragically died in a bus crash 1986, while the band was touring in support of Master Of Puppets in Sweden. Ray Burton’s appearance at the recent California show, like Grohl’s, resulted in a number of selfies from admirers of Cliff.
