Death Cab For Cutie are currently gearing up to release their ninth studio album in just a couple of months, and now the group have shared a brief snippet for new music to help tide over their dedicated fans.
Early in May, we found out that Death Cab For Cutie are planning to release their latest album in August of this year. This news was delivered thanks to a series of US tour dates and a short YouTube clip that contained some Boards Of Canada-style production. Now, the group have shared another preview of the new record.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, the group Tweeted out a video that contains a 30-second preview of a song titled ‘Your Hurricane’.

Smooth and dreamy, ‘Your Hurricane’ sounds like a return to the indie-rock roots of the group, and features the brilliant sound that won them fans all over the world to begin with.
Currently, it’s been over three years since Death Cab For Cutie released their last album, Kintsugi, which contained somewhat more of an alt-rock lean to it, and was the last record by the group to feature founding guitarist Chris Walla, who has since released a solo album of his own.
Death Cab For Cutie also released a Donald Trump-protest song back in 2016 titled ‘Million Dollar Loan’, which was released on a similarly-themed compilation, though no new music has surfaced since then.
While the group have announced some upcoming tour dates which will keep them busy until November, we can only hope that they’ll be announcing some Australian dates as well.
It’s currently been three years since the indie-rock legends touched down on Aussie soil for Splendour In The Grass in 2015 and some accompanying sideshows, though we assume that once the album drops, we might be closer to receiving some local tour dates.
