I’m sure you’re pretty darn aware that the entire world is in Beyoncé mode right now – so it’ll come as no surprise that her dad is currently working on a Destiny’s Child musical.
The production will be based on the rise of the R&B group, and is titled Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical. Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles says the musical is an “honest, behind the scenes look at how the greatest girl group of all time was created.”
Some might say the use of the word “greatest” is a biiiig call, Destiny’s Child have truly earned it. But, they do still sit behind Spice Girls, The Andrews Sisters and TLC as the fourth highest selling girl group of all time.
This news comes after Knowles’ daughter Beyoncé Knowles-Carter unleashed her Homecoming Netflix Original just last week. Homecoming features Beyoncé performing 32 songs to over 125,000 people at Coachella in 2018. That festival set became one of the most talked about performances in history, even garnering its own Wikipedia page. Gosh!
Knowles, who used to manage the renowned group claims he wishes to “pull back the curtain,” in a statement to Consequence of Sound.
“I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams – those of mine and others.”
Those who frequent Knowles’ hometown, Houston, are in for a treat – they’ll be the first people able to experience this live extraordinaire. Knowles even has plans of taking this production to Broadway and even London’s West End.
