Robert Plant is undoubtedly one of the most famous frontmen of all time, with his vocals promoting Led Zeppelin to an almost otherworldly level, allowing them to transcend many other bands of their time in terms of style and longevity. But why? What was so special about what went into Led Zeppelin that made them so popular? Well, to answer that, you’ll need to look to Robert Plant.
In the 53 years he’s been involved with music, Robert Plant has been responsible for some of the biggest songs in the world, including ‘Rock And Roll’, ‘Black Dog’, and ‘Stairway To Heaven’, influencing millions with his mythical lyrics, wild, shirtless stage presence, and that amazing voice.
But have you ever wondered about the inspiration for some of those famous lyrics? Have you found yourself thinking hard about the themes of Viking culture present in ‘The Immigrant Song’, or have you found yourself thinking that ‘Ramble On’ sounds a lot like a tribute to Lord Of The Rings?
To celebrate Robert Plant’s upcoming solo tour of Australia as part of Bluesfest, we’ve decided to take a look back at the myth and legend of Plant, taking extra care to delve into the inspiration for some of those fantastic, epic lyrics.
Be sure to head along to the Bluesfest website for information tickets to Robert Plant’s upcoming shows, and take a few minutes to learn a little bit more about this rock legend by pointing your peepers downwards.
