Former Divinyls lead singer Chrissie Amphlett has revealed she’s battling breast cancer. The diagnosis is a double blow for the singer of hits such as ‘Boys In Town’ and ‘I Touch Myself’, as she is also battling Multiple Sclerosis.  Speaking from her home in New York, she told The Age that ”My family knows so I thought I might as well come out with it,” she said yesterday. ”It was going to come out sooner or later. I’ll get over it – I’ve got songs to sing, I’ve got stages to perform on. I’m a keep-on-going sort of girl.”

Amphlett propelled her band to the top of the charts with her feisty schoolgirl persona and saw them inducted into the ARIA hall of fame in 2006, before they split in 2007. She refuses to feel sorry for herself, however, and is determined to battle the illness. ”It’s shit and it’s unfair, but life is not fair – even rock stars get breast cancer. But there’s been many girls before me that have dealt with it successfully. It’s easy to feel sorry for me but I feel sorry for people who are suffering it alone.”
