DJ Khaled looks set to bring his displeasure to the courtroom, reportedly planning to sue Billboard over the fact his recent album failed to debut at #1.

Last month, DJ Khaled released his 11th studio album, Father Of Asahd. Featuring a number of high-charting singles, and the chart-topping success of his last two records, it seems that expectations were high for the 43-year old.

Over the weekend, we noted how sources close to the artist had revealed how the famed producer went on a “temper tantrum” after his latest record debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts last week.

“He stormed into Epic with an entourage,” explained one unnamed source, noting that once he was presented with projections for his latest record, “he was angry and yelling. He threw a temper tantrum.”

“No. 2 won’t do for Khaled,” added another source. “He was not happy when the album didn’t debut at No. 1… Not happy at all.”

The issue seemed to mainly revolve around the fact that Father Of Asahd had sold more copies than Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR, but stalled at number two due to some streaming bundle deals whose numbers weren’t included in the final chart count.

“Khaled was upset that his label wasn’t fighting for him and fighting for those numbers to count, which could have propelled him to No. 1. They don’t get it,” a source added.

Now, as Page Six reports, DK Khaled is taking this issue further, apparently launching a lawsuit against Billboard for not counting those figures.

DJ Khaled reportedly claims that Billboard had initially agreed to count downloads included in an energy drink and streaming bundle, which apparently amounted to more than 100,000.

However, Billboard apparently reneged on this deal, disqualifying the sales and arguing that “there were strange anomalies” in the total download figures.

A source close to DJ Khaled explained that “When Khaled’s team tried to appeal, Billboard refused to budge.”

However, the issue appears to be all the more contentious because the sales figures for a similar bundle deal for Tyler, The Creator reportedly were included in his total downloads, meaning that while Tyler debuted at #1 with 165,000 albums sold, Khaled’s 137,000 sales were inaccurately low.

Billboard is yet to respond to the issue, but if true, this wouldn’t be the first time in recent months that their charts have caused a bout of controversy.
