Plenty of seasoned veterans of the music industry have stated that This Is Spın̈al Tap is more of an historical document than anything else, with countless artists admitting to have almost missed their gigs because they’ve become lost on their way to the stage, had their drummers blow up, and so forth. But the bassist of Every Time I Die must now have a greater understanding of the classic mockumentary after getting stuck in a bathroom prior to the band’s Los Angeles gig on Saturday night.
Taking to Twitter, Every Time I Die’s Stephen Micciche spilled the beans about how a faulty toilet door almost kept him from missing the band’s recent gig. “I legit got locked in a bathroom tonight and was 10mins away from missing our set. Staff had to sledgehammer the door down,” he wrote. “I didn’t even have my phone on me. We were minutes away from a 4 piece tonight.”

I hear a guy on a radio on the other side of the door go “last time this happened here”…da fuck?! Last time! Spend $20 for a new lock!

Every Time I Die also managed to record the incident as well, which has since been shared on Twitter as well. The video follows the rescue efforts, which at one point captures audio of a radio transmission talking about how this had previously happened, much to the confused cries of Micciche on the other side of the bathroom door.
Can we talk about how we almost had to play a set without @MitchBHavin because he got locked in the bathroom? pic.twitter.com/EQ3XAESZUr

Every Time I Die were last in the country back in January for UNIFY 2017, and were arguably one of the festival highlights. Who knows if this quality was in part due to a distinct lack of bassists locked in bathrooms, but we’re guessing that Stephen Micciche will be a little bit more cautious with his choice of lavatory in the future.
