Tool fans have made the most of the band’s recent streaming debut, helping every one of their records hit the US iTunes charts.
This weekend has clearly been a big one for Tool fans. Just last week it was announced that the band’s new album would be titled Fear Inoculum, with its August 30th release date being preceded by the group’s debut onto streaming services.
On Friday, Tool lived up to their promise, with all of their four studio albums and one EP arriving on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and more.
In fact, their arrival onto Spotify has clearly been a long-awaited one, with the band boasting more than 1.1 million monthly listeners just two days after their tunes became available.
Over on iTunes though, the band’s music has obviously resonated with local fans, who have streamed the band enough for 2001’s Lateralus to chart at #5, just two positions higher than The Beatles’ Abbey Road.
However, fans over in the US have clearly professed their love of the prog-metal icons, with every one of the band’s studio albums hitting the top ten of the iTunes charts.

According to the iTunes Charts website, Tool currently occupy four of the top positions, with 1996’s Ænima taking the top spot, followed closely by Drake’s new Care Package.

The rest of the chart follows as fans of metal might expect, with Lateralus, Undertow, and 10,000 Days rounding out the top five, while their 1992 Opiate EP sits pretty at #8.
Amazingly, it doesn’t end there though, with ‘Sober’ hitting #3 on the songs chart (down from #2 one day earlier), while ‘Schism’, ‘Forty Six & 2’, and ‘Stinkfist’ reach #7, #8, and #9, respectively, undoubtedly turning this week’s Ariana Grande-capped chart into a bit of a progressive-rock history lesson.
At this stage, Australia’s Tool obsession hasn’t quite made itself that noticeable on the iTunes charts, though some of their tracks are slowly rising out of the top 20. Who knows, maybe when Fear Inoculum is finally released later this month their fans will give them yet another well-deserved #1 album.
