After more than 13 years of waiting, Tool have finally announced the title of their long-awaited fifth studio album.

Back in April of 2006, Tool released their fourth album, 10,000 Days. A stunning release from the group, fans were unaware that the title would serve as more of a descriptor as to when we would receive a follow-up.

Since the release of this album, fans have received the entire career of Puscifer, a wide-scale return of A Perfect Circle, and numerous years of rumours and innuendo about when a new album would finally arrive.

Earlier this year though, the band formally announced that their new release would finally see the light of day on August 30th. Since then, details have been scarce.

However, frontman Maynard James Keenan recently revealed that he would appear on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast to deliver some “long-awaited announcements.”

Before Maynard hit up the podcast though, the group took to Instagram this morning to reveal that their new record will be titled Fear Inoculum, with an image of some stylised artwork hitting the band’s Instagram.

Meanwhile, Tool have also answered the prayers of most other fans, revealing that their back catalogue will finally be hitting streaming services this Friday, August 2nd.

Having recently seen their 1991 demo tape make an unofficial appearance on some streaming services, fans were undoubtedly believing the band had finally relented to putting their music on a digital platform.

Now, it appears that fans will finally get the chance to stream their favourite tracks whenever they want. Just in time, too, considering that this streaming roll-out has seen a lot of fan-uploaded rips of Tool’s music removed from YouTube.

Of course, with just one month to go until we receive the band’s fifth album, the question remains if any more big news will come before it. Will we get a single beforehand? Fresh tour dates? A confirmation of the album artwork?

At this stage, only time will tell, but the month of August will undoubtedly be one for the books in the Tool fandom.
