German metal icons Rammstein look set to release some new material this week, if a cryptic video from the group is to be believed.

It’s hard to believe, but this year marks ten years since Rammstein released their last album, Liebe Ist Für Alle Da. Sure, since then, we’ve seen a couple of singles thanks to the band’s retrospective releases, but we’ve not really received any new music for quite some time.

Now, it seems as though that’s all about to change.

For quite a while now, Rammstein have been discussing the release of their upcoming record. As the updates have come through, we’ve discovered that not only are the band aiming to release the record “in early 2019”, but that a three-year world tour is set to follow.

However, it’s looking as though we’re about to get our first taste of new audio and/or visual material later this week.

Taking to YouTube recently, Rammstein shared a video containing some unsettling imagery. Featuring the band members at the gallows with nooses around their necks, the context of the footage is unclear.

However, as the final word of “Deutschland” appears on screen, Roman numerals for the date of March 28th, 2019 also show up.

Naturally, fans are taking this to assume that something new – whether it be a video, song, announcement, or something else entirely – will be released on Thursday (or likely Friday, for us Australians).

Back in December, guitarist Richard Kruspe revealed that the new Rammstein album is “going to come out probably in April of 2019.” Considering that April starts next week, news of a new single or video from the band would be a rather timely event.

While it’s also not clear what the recently-released footage is from, it does come just months after Rammstein teamed up with Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund to film a religion-themed music video.

Whatever the case, it’s looking like this week could finally put an end to our drought of Rammstein material.
