Off the back of news last month that Superstar Florence Welch had finished work on Florence And The Machine’s second album and producer Paul Epworth declaring that there are ‘no weak songs’, the band have unveiled a second song entitled ‘Shake It Out’.
Taken from new album Ceremonials, ‘Shake It Out’ follows the first song previewed to the world ‘What The Water Gave Me’ which we called a “truly epic song, with many climaxes throughout the five and a half minutes of beauty. Florence performs her soaring vocals with assistance from a dark, gospel-like chorus in order to emphatically build the song.”
In an interview earlier this year, Welch described her mindset when recording Ceremonials saying “It feels as if there’s still a lot of questioning left to do. Just because I’m happy in my relationship, I’ve still got issues to deal with. I’m going to be 25 and I feel like I’ve got to be a grown-up now. I feel like your life is always a battle between safety and freedom.”
Florence and the Machine are also an early rumour for Big Day Out 2012. You can listen to ‘Shake It Out’ below.
