Gang of Four front man, Andy Gill, who is about to head to Australia to play at the Soundwave Festival, says he reckons Red Hot Chili Peppers ripped his band off. Speaking to a London tabloid, Gill says “The Red Hot Chili Peppers have obviously based their career on Gang of Four and they’d admit that”.

Funnily, enough, Gill also produced the Los Angeles band’s eponymous album back in 1984. He reckons “The guitar on their single ‘Can’t Stop’ was directly from one of our early songs and when I heard it I thought, ‘That’s going a bit far’. I bumped into [Chilis bassist] Flea at a party and he said, ‘Andy, I just don’t understand why you’ve never sued us’.”
