In an iconic musical pairing, Gene Simmons and the famous guitar brand Gibson are joining forces to bring us a new line of electric guitars and basses dubbed G².
Unlike traditional signature model lines, which usually have one guitar created for one celebrity, G² will consist of an entire line of electric guitar and bass collections spanning Gibson, Epiphone, and even Kramer.
G² won’t only be a musical instrument line, but will also develop a new entertainment content that can be streamed globally.
“I have been designing and trademarking bass guitars for decades.. and when I heard Gibson’s vision and learned about their creative process, it just made sense for us to join forces to take things to the next level,” Simmons says of the collab.
“Gibson is an outstanding company and has earned its place as a leading guitar brand with fans around the world. These guitars and basses will all be handmade, with a sound that is off the charts. The design is so beautiful and collectible that they are simply works of art.”
The first release is set to be G² Thunderbird Bass which is scheduled to be released later this year. This is expected to be followed by a Flying V bass and Flying V guitar.
Eager eyed fans spotted the Kiss frontman subtly debuting the G² Thunderbird Bass in December when he posting a pic on Twitter of him “rehearsing for the show in Dubai”.

Gibson’s Chief Merchant Officer, Cesar Gueikian, has spoken of his excitement about having Simmons on board with the brand. “Gene Simmons is not only one of the most celebrated musicians and rock stars of all time. He is also an entrepreneur, record producer, actor and overall creative person. Gene’s brain is always working, and I love that about him.
“When we first connected, we immediately engaged in the most interesting conversations about guitars, entertainment, and business. Our shared vision compelled us to explore a partnership that would include developing instruments and creating a new platform to entertain and inspire new generations of Gibson and Gene Simmons fans to create music. Expect epic things.”
