With producer and co-writer of Billie Eilish’s ‘Bitches Broken Hearts’ on his resume and his song ‘Painting Greys’ sitting at number 1 on Spotify Global Viral for seven days straight, Emmit Fenn is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Late last month the talented singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist dropped his long-awaited debut album Far From Here. The ten-track album explores deeply emotional subjects and Fenn lays out his soul with vulnerable lyrics and haunting soundscapes.

“The main theme of this album is finding hope in vulnerability. With this album, I wanted to be completely open about my past on a very intimate level and show how I’ve grown from it,” Fenn shared speaking of the concept behind the album.

We caught up with Fenn as part of our Get To Know series.

I make all sorts of music in almost every genre so I would tell her to dive through the catalog and find something she likes or I’d just ask what inspires her and create something new!

Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what they’re about?

The Table is about a table. A wood table. A nice one too. I was inspired by it and had to write a song about it! But actually, I prefer you listen to the tracks and let me know what they mean to you. Sometimes giving away the true meaning of the song can skew the experience of the song for other listeners because it can have many meanings for many people and I’m just one person.

What do you love about your hometown?

I grew up in Berkeley, CA which is the hub of every culture you can imagine and I can’t imagine growing up anywhere else.

Career highlight so far?

Being able to make music as my full-time job is my highlight! Working closely with Apple on their commercial projects, working with Billie Eilish and playing at Coachella!

Fave non-music hobby?

Surfing, rock climbing, playing basketball, hanging with friends. Anything to get me out of my studio chair.

What’s on your dream rider?

My dream car? Probably my 2015 ford SUV I got right now… But for a Tour Rider as long as there’s water, I’m good.

Dream music collaboration?

No one at the moment.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A little bit older, hopefully still making decent music.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Cello suite no 1 in g major.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t lose your dinosaur.

What’s one obsession you have that no one would guess after listening to your music?

I love Anime! Join my discord to chat about it more, we have an anime channel. Vineland saga & demon slayer are two must watches at the moment.
