A GoFundMe page has been set up to aid Australian metal identity Lochlan Watt as he battles brain cancer.

If you’re an Australian metalhead, then there’s a strong chance that you’ve had your world affected by Lochlan Watt.

Whether it’s hearing his vocals in groups like COLOSSVS, Ironhide, Nuclear Summer, or even Thy Art Is Murder, or hearing him as the host of triple j’s The Racket, Watt has been around for quite some time.

Now, sadly, he needs your help.

Launching recently, a GoFundMe page was set up in order to help raise funds for the battle that Lochlan is facing after the recent diagnosis of brain cancer.

According to the page, a violent seizure back in February resulted in the discovery of a brain tumour, but after surgery to remove it, another grade III brain tumour was discovered.

“Although he feels uncomfortable about starting this campaign, he’s been told he will have to have 8-9 months of radiation chemotherapy in order to eliminate any cancer around where the tumour grew,” the campaign explains.

“During this next 12 months of therapy and recover, he won’t be able to work full time. His employers have been incredibly supportive and everything will be there for him to continue his work properly on the other side – he has no interest in logging off.

“We are looking to ease the financial burden over the next year of chemotherapy and recovery.”

“In addition to the last few months of surprise costs and reduced income, there are forecast expenses through the chemotherapy itself, additional costs in his living situation with having had to move closer to the hospital he will receive treatment in,” the page continues.

“In order to get back to full strength and get back to contributing in countless ways to heavy music, which many of you know him from, having to worry about finance shouldn’t be at the front of his brain (or a tumour).”

At the time of publication, close to $14,000 of a $50,000 goal has been raised by supporters, with the number continuing to increase every minute.

While our thoughts are with the family and friends of Lochlan Watt at this time, we sincerely hope that anyone who has ever had their lives brightened by his contributions to the world of music is able to donate even a few dollars to this worthy cause.
