DAMN, UCLA gymnast, Nia Dennis has taken the internet by storm with an awe-inspiring floor routine dedicated to Black Excellence performed to a mash up of epic songs by Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Missy Elliott, Soulja Boy, Megan Thee Stallion and Tupac, among others.
Dennis set the bar high when she opened with a high-flying double backflip to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Humble’. The talented 21 year old then took to the air again with some goosebump inspiring moves to Soulja Boy. The performance earned Dennis the winning spot in a college competition with a score of 9.5.
There were opening notes in the routine from Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DNA’, a song which speaks of how being black is viewed by different groups of people, and the performance was rounded out by Tupac’s ‘California Love’.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Daily News, Dennis shared that her routine represented her cultural pride.
“This routine definitely reflects everything that I am today as a woman,” Dennis told the publication, “and of course I had to incorporate a lot of parts of my culture. I wanted to have a dance party because that’s my personality and of course I had to shout out LA because we out here, UCLA.”
In a boss move, Dennis took to her own Instagram stories with a photo from her routine of her raising her first for the Black Power Salute. She captioned the pic with, “BLM” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
UCLA tweeted a post captioned, “This is what #blackexcellence looks like. @DennisNia does it again!” And the retweets and likes are absolutely annihilating any others previously posted on their page.

Dennis clearly didn’t come to play, and she’s received a well deserved, overwhelmingly positive result. Social media has gone absolutely bonkers for both her message and her talent.
Nia Dennis x Kendrick Lamar was everything I needed in my life.

I actually cried watching this. I’ve seen a lot of floor routines in my time but never one as joyous AND well executed as this! Love everything about it, especially the shared joy of her teammates. #NiaDennis #BlackExcellence https://t.co/hDQELdPapM
