Just one week after announcing their new drummer, Hellyeah have announced their first album and tour since the passing of Vinnie Paul.
Back in June, the world of music was shocked to learn of the death of Vinnie Paul, best known as a founding drummer of both Pantera and Hellyeah.
In the wake of his passing, music fans soon found themselves wondering what the future of Hellyeah would hold. Although Vinnie Paul had recorded drum tracks for the band’s new record before his death, the status of this record remained unclear.
While the band announced last week that Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga would be pounding the skins into the future, Hellyeah have now announced the release of their new record.
Coming after the band’s live return (and tribute to Vinnie Paul) on Saturday, Hellyeah have now revealed that their sixth album, Welcome Home, will be unleashed on September 27th, with a tour preceding its release.
“While Vinnie Paul is obviously irreplaceable, one thing we can’t not do is tour,” explained bassist Kyle Sanders.” As easy as it would be to say we’re not going on the road, we have to.”
“Vinnie would be extremely disappointed in us if we didn’t promote this record properly. He’d be pissed off at all of us for putting all this work into finishing the record and then just letting it sit there on the shelf while we put a couple of songs to radio and whatever… and we know that.”
Hellyeah have announced an 18-date US tour in support of the new record, though there’s no word yet as to when they’ll make the trip down to Australia.
The group’s live return on Saturday night also saw the band presented with an official proclamation from the Clark County Board of Commissioners that declared May 11th as “Vinnie Paul Day.”
While Hellyeah released new single ‘333’ recently, the record’s title track, ‘Welcome Home’, will be released on May 17th.
