Hellyeah have announced that they are set to welcome a new drummer to the band, replacing the late Vinnie Paul.

Back in June, the world of music was shocked to learn of the death of Vinnie Paul, best known as a founding drummer of both Pantera and Hellyeah.

In the wake of his passing, music fans soon found themselves wondering what the future of Hellyeah would hold. Although Vinnie Paul had recorded drum tracks for the band’s new record before his death, the status of this record remained unclear.

Back in May though, the group revealed that their as-yet-untitled new album would be unleashed at the end of June, sharing a new single in the process.

Now, they’ve revealed who will be joining them on the drums for the forseeable future.

Taking to Facebook earlier today, Hellyeah explained to their fans that Stone Sour’s Roy Mayorga will be pulling a stool up behind the kit as the group’s new drummer.

“Please welcome our dear friend and brother Roy Mayorga, who will be guesting behind the drum kit as we honor our brother Vinnie Paul,” the band wrote on social media.

“These men had so much love and mutual respect for each other, this makes our transition so much easier. Ready or not, here we come!”

At the current time, it seems that Roy Mayorga’s availability comes due to Stone Sour being put on the back-burner while Corey Taylor focuses on Slipknot’s new record.

Likewise, the future of Hellyeah still remains unclear, as their wording of Mayorga “guesting behind the drum kit” tends to indicate his position is not a permanent one, making us unsure whether the band will continue following the touring cycle of their new record.

Whatever the case, it seems that all will be revealed in the near future, with Hellyeah’s upcoming record being released on June 28th.
