While we haven’t seen a new Jack White solo record since 2014’s Lazaretto, the iconic blues-rocker hasn’t exactly been sitting around lazily. In between becoming a children’s author, and releasing classic albums by The White Stripes on cassette, Jack White has reportedly almost finished working on a third studio record.
Back in August, we discovered that Jack White had been hard at work on the new LP, recording at studios in Los Angeles and New York – a bit far away from his usual haunt of the Third Man Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, White has confirmed that the record is finally nearing completion.
According to Billboard, Jack White delivered a keynote speech at the Making Vinyl conference in Detroit, Michigan on Monday. While there, he happened to give an update on his new record, stating that it’s “practically done,” while noting that he needs to add “some finishing touches.”
“It’s a bizarre one,” he continued. “I’ve just got to let it settle. I need to listen to it by myself. I haven’t been able to listen to it by myself for a while.”
Billboard notes that the as-yet-untitled record is set to be released in the first half of 2018, but weren’t able to give a specific date. Knowing Jack White though, the record is probably set to be done within the week, but he’s going to spend the next four months sorting out all variety of kooky additions to add to the vinyl edition of the record.
While Jack White hasn’t given us too many more updates on his record, he did however give us a brand new heavy track back in April called ‘Battle Cry’. We’re not exactly sure whether or not this new single will appear on the new record, but considering it hasn’t been given a trademark Jack White vinyl release yet, we can be pretty certain that it’s going to be included on the new LP.
