The multi-talented Jimmy Barnes has announced his debut children’s book is on its way.

Rosie The Rhinoceros, an original story by Barnes with images from Matt Sharks, will be available in all good bookstores by September.

In a statement (via Noise11), Jimmy Barnes revealed the children’s book was inspired by his granddaughter Rosie.

“I’m excited to reveal the book cover for Rosie The Rhinoceros, a kids book I’ve written, which was inspired by my granddaughter, Rosie, who charges around like a rhinoceros but feels she’s a delicate unicorn,” he said.

“We laughed when I told her the story and I can’t wait to read the book to her. Rosie loves to read. I know she thinks the cover is great”.

While Rosie The Rhinoceros marks Barnes’ first foray into children’s literature, he has been enjoying success as an author for years.

He has released two memoirs, Working Class Boy and Working Class Man, with both books receiving Biography of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The feat cemented Barnes as the only author to have won back to back awards two years running.

Along with Rosie the Rhinoceros, in November Barnes is also set to release a family cookbook co-written with wife Jane called Where The River Bends.

As if his writing wasn’t keeping him busy enough, Barnes will also headline the November return of One Electric Day at Werribee Park.

The concert will also feature performances from The Living End, Jon Stevens, The Black Sorrows, Killing Heidi and Chocolate Starfish.
