One of the most acclaimed vocalists in Australian rock history is hitting the road this year, with Jimmy Barnes announcing one of his biggest tours ever.

It goes without saying, but no discussion of Australian rock history is complete without a mention of Jimmy Barnes.

Growing up in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, Barnes soon rose to fame as the frontman of Cold Chisel, one of the most iconic Australian bands of all time. Having kicked off a successful solo career in the ’80s, Barnes has continued to be one of the most beloved Aussie musicians ever.

Following the success of his biography, and subsequent film adaptation, Working Class Boy, Barnes revealed that he is set to release his 17th studio album on May 31st, serving as his first album of original material since 2010.

Titled My Criminal Record, the record sees Jimmy Barnes teaming up with Cold Chisel’s Don Walker to help create an album of Aussie heartland rock, including tracks like ‘Shutting Down Our Town’, which chronicles the closure of the Holden factory in Barnes’ hometown of Elizabeth.

Now, to promote the record, Barnsey will be coming to your town, announcing an extensive Aussie tour to kick off in September.

Starting off in Mackay, the tour will see the music legend joined by Jet and Eskimo Joe for a number of these shows, while it will feature Barnes’ first headline performance at the Hordern Pavilion since the late ’80s, and his first ever headlining appearance at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena and Brisbane’s Riverstage.

“It’s been ten years since I made an original rock record and I can’t wait to get out there and play these songs, along with all the old favourites, to a live audience. It’s going to be great!”, Barnes explained of the new tour.

Tickets to these upcoming shows go on sale at 9am on Friday, May 31st, coinciding with the release of My Criminal Record.
