Johnny Marr has been reunited with a guitar stolen after a gig in 2000. The former Smiths guitar legend had the 1964 Gibson SG returned after police were tipped off that a fan had stolen it backstage at a Johnny Marr & The Healers gig in London.
Fan Stephen White was sentenced to 200 hours community service for the theft at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in London. He told the judge: “I’m disgusted with the whole thing …There’s a victim here. I can’t reconcile myself with the behaviour of that night.” Since getting pissed at the gig and stealing the guitar he had apparently given it pride of place in his loungeroom.
