Julian Casablancas’ band The Voidz have shared a cover of Saturday Night Live’s original Christmas tune ‘I Wish It Was Christmas Today’.
Casablancas had previously recorded a version of the track for his 2009 solo album Phrazes Of The Young, but has now given the track a gloomy, post-punk treatment – perfect for getting yourself into the joyous, warm spirit of the holidays.

The original track aired during the 26th season of the seminal show, starring Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, Tracy Morgan and more – its a truly rollicking, festive affair for all.

Julian Casablancas’ main haunt, The Strokes have recently announced their ” global comeback” set for 2019. Announcing their first show in over two years, a festival slot for the Bilbao BBK Live Festival in Bilbao, Spain in July of 2019, a press release noted that it would be the first performance that ushers in a new era for the universally loved indie rock act.
In January this year, Casablancas noted that The Strokes would most likely return in 2019 – say what you want about the polarizing frontman, at least he’s a man of his word!
The Stroke’s also recently mentioned to The West Australian that the band were currently hard at work on album #6.
“They’re making a new album now with a great producer called Rick Rubin,” Hammond explained. “I speak to my son every day and he says that they’re so happy, I’m sure this will be a very successful record.”
